Final Week! May 25-31
You can find other weeks in my 2025 Me Made May journey here:
Day 25:
Nightshirt: Jalie 4459 – Joanie Tee and dress. I made it sometime in the last year. Someday I’ll blog it (like soon soon shhhh). It’s super comfortable in this waffle knit from Fabric Mart. As you can tell I’m laying low today.
I love this pattern and it can be a comfy nightgown, a comfy dress, or it can be accessorized and made into a fancier dress. I will blog this soon so keep an eye out for all the details.
Day 26
Day 27
Day 28:
I’m wearing clothes, so I must be heading out of the house somewhere, LOL. I had to be up in Rochester Mayo today for a worthless GI appointment that got me nowhere. Of all the doctors out there, I feel the GI department is the one that lets me down the most. They have no answers, they don’t listen, and they don’t seem to care. I have a lot of specialists, but the GI ones are the most lacking and most gaslighting.
Anyway, my outfit.
Top: Jalie – 3667 Marie Claude, made April 2018 in an awesome slub knit from Stylish Fabrics
Bottoms: my favorite pair of comfy pants. Burda 11-2007-122, made Aug 2020
Thoughts: I really, really love both these patterns. I made the top just a handful of times, 3, but will make more.
I have made the pants many times before (at least 7!). I love how they fit, how they look, and the ease of sewing them. This outfit together is 5-star for me. Put together, yet comfortable; and that is a win in my book.
Top made before: 1. Dec 2017 in Floral French Terry, 2. Dec 2017 in plaid French Terry for Miss K.
Bottoms made before: 1 Sept 2017 black stripe for Miss K, 2&3 Dec 2017 Red yoga for me, Dec 2017 purple stripe for me, 4 Dec 2019 red xmas pjs for Miss K, 5 Dec 2020 a fun fruity pair for Miss K, 6 Jan 2022 a rayon jersey tie-dye for Miss K
Day 29
Day 30
Last day of MeMadeMay – Day 31
Another outfit I love to wear. And what fun is MMM without a photobomb from Mr. Bennie Bear? ![]()

Top: Patterns for Pirates – Sweet Tee, made May 2019 in Brushed DTY Stretch from Stylish fabrics
Skirt: New Look 6054, made June 2015 in Rayon Challis from Hancock Fabrics.
This skirt is wonderful! I love to wear it. It is out of super soft Rayon Challis and every time I find a pattern I like in Rayon Challis I scoop that fabric up! It is one of my favorite pattern types. The top is so easy to throw on and wear and it is a very fast sew. I find it very flattering too. I have sewn these patterns 3 times each now.
Top made before: 1. Red Jersey Knit, 2017 2. plain black, May 2016 3. teal floral, Sept 2017
Skirt made before: 1. June 2012, view D in quilting cotton 2. July 2012, View A in a Linen blend
I sort of fell off on the last week of Me Made May. I got lazy and I was tired from what the month threw at me. I did learn a lot about what colors look better on me, what outfits I love, what patterns I love, and what I like to wear that makes me feel good.
I’m also trying to come to terms with where my life is right now. I have fought my body, kicking and screaming, for years, a decade, forever – refusing to believe that I have a brain tumor. That I suffer so much. That I cannot do some things anymore. That at 46, my life is what it is. My energy just isn’t what I want. My mind wants to DO DO DO and my body just doesn’t. It is an internal struggle that I have each day. (My therapist would be so proud of this paragraph).
I used to sew daily. I used to have joy and smile and laugh. Nowadays it is hard to do either as there is just so much suffering. I have to relearn many things as I lost a lot of brain connections after the craniotomy. My brain forgets things easily and I have to think harder and repeat some things to get those connections back. Many things are just harder due to the surgery. This has been hard for me to accept. Its not what I planned for my life! (Yes, I know, no one plans these things).
However, I’m not giving up on my sewing. It is a piece of me I refuse to let go of. I just need to make some adaptations and go at a slower pace. I need to realize what my body can do each day before I get to the point of pushing too much and then needing days to recover.
Me Made May is a wonderful way to connect to the sewing community, to find new patterns and new sewists. It is a wonderful journey each year that helps me learn so much about my sewing and the way things fit (or don’t fit) my body type. I love to participate each year and I get so excited to see what everyone else is wearing. I look forward to next year’s Me Made May and I thank you for being on my journey this month with me.
I will return to posting the things I have been sewing. I still have a backlog of some things I haven’t shared yet. My next post will be the new Jalie Pauline pattern and the newish Jalie Joanie pattern (both excellent). Keep moving forward. Don’t give up your joy. Find a way. ❤
Happy Sewing!
